Vision and Values

Brickhill Primary School

Vision

At Brickhill Primary School, we believe that education is a shared journey. As a maintained primary school in Bedford serving 211 children, our identity is built upon a simple, powerful promise: Together, we THRIVE. Since our transition to a full primary school in 2018, we have nurtured a close-knit, “family-feel” environment for children aged four to eleven. Here, every child is known by name, every family is a partner, and every child is given the space to grow.

We believe a community flourishes when it works in unity. We understand that for a child to truly succeed, they must first feel a deep sense of belonging.

To achieve our vision, we instill six core values that represent what we want our pupils to be and feel every day:

Together | Happy | Resilient | Inspired | Valued | Empowered

In short: we flourish because we do it together.

Values

In order to achieve our vision, we understand the importance of belonging and togetherness. We believe that together, we THRIVE and our school values represent what we aim for our children to be and feel during their time with us. These are our core values that help our community understand how we behave, conducting ourselves in a positive manner and developing both character and effective habits over time. They are referenced during positive praise, and we celebrate them throughout our school. We believe that these values will enable our pupils to make the most of their primary years and be ready for a brighter future, as so often a dove represents, Wearing this badge with pride, and living the following school values is something we aspire for all of our children.

Together

We want our community to be together. By showing togetherness and unity, we will go beyond tolerance by not just accepting differences, but by embracing who we are as individuals, ensuring all belong.

Happy

We know that happiness is infectious and that each and every one of us plays a key role in our own happiness, and the happiness of those around us. We seek ways of feeling happy, whilst also finding ways to make others feel happy too.

Resilient

We are committed to supporting our pupils to overcome challenges and develop a strong sense of resilience. We will challenge them so they can discover what it means to be resilient and help them learn from others who needed to show grit and determination.

Inspired

We will teach a curriculum that inspires our young people to fall in love with subjects and discover what is important to them. We will motivate and encourage them to be life-long learners, developing the confidence to inspire those around the too.

Valued

We know the importance of feeling valued and want all of our children, families and staff to know that they matter and that they are appreciated. We will celebrate achievements and ensure our school reflects each and every child and their experiences.

Empowered

We have a strong belief that anyone can make a difference in this world. We know that school is more than just preparing students for tests. We want to unlock potential and empower children with a sense of purpose, through providing responsibility and opportunity.
