Brickhill Primary School
We believe that a knowledge-rich curriculum provides our pupils with the power of knowledge which will help them not only unlock future learning but allow them to understand their world around them in a more deeper way.

We teach History as a discreet subject at Brickhill Primary School throughout Year 1 to Year 6 in order to protect the discipline of the subject and provide our pupils with valued, specific and well-sequenced knowledge. For KS1, History and Geography alternate each half term and for KS2, weekly History lessons are taught. To support our teaching of History, we use planning materials from the Primary Knowledge Curriculum.

This year, we are making stronger links between the learning that takes place in Foundation Stage to our curriculum in Years 1 to 6. This includes Year R exploring the following topics, where clear History links are made:

Autumn A Autumn B Spring A Spring B Summer A Summer B
All about me (Geography) Transport: Past and Present (History) Space (Science) Growing and Changing (Science and Geography) Kings and Queens (History) Stories from the Past (History, Geography and Science)
Here, you will find an overview of our History Curriculum below, along with an amended overview which details what will be covered within each unit.
