Every child has their own strengths and areas of need and as a school we do our utmost to support each pupil in their educational journey.
Each child’s progress is regularly monitored and if an area of need is identified, support is put in place. By identifying SEND at an early stage, and through High Quality Teaching (including effective planning and provision) we are committed to enabling every pupil to participate fully in all the learning opportunities and activities that the school offers. We aim for each child to experience success and achieve their very best.
Where a pupil has an ongoing special educational need or disability (SEND), a support plan is created via a discussion with the child, their parents and school. Progress towards the targets on this plan are reported to parents at the end of each term and at the beginning of the following term, the pupil, parents and their teacher update the support plan and set new targets.
Sometimes specialist advice and support is required and the school has has effective links with the local authority’s educational psychologists, SEND advisors, SEND team and other specialists. We also work closely with the local NHS speech and language therapists, paediatric physiotherapists, occupational therapists and school nursing team to ensure that children receive the best possible support.
